(WNY News Now) – A Springville woman has admitted guilt in the case involving a fire that damaged multiple apartment units on North Buffalo Street in the Village of Springville earlier this year.

Springville – Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn has announced that 37-year-old Sara J. Lilley pleaded guilty to one count of Arson in the Second Degree, a Class “B” felony, before Erie County Court Judge Kenneth Case. Lilley’s guilty plea, which took place on Thursday, September 14, 2023, stemmed from an incident that occurred on Monday, January 23, 2023, at approximately 10:30 p.m.

Erie County Sheriff’s Office deputies and multiple volunteer fire companies responded to a fire at an apartment building on North Buffalo Street. The fire resulted in damage to several apartment units, displacing residents. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. The investigation determined that the fire had been intentionally set by Lilley, who resided in the same building.

Sara J. Lilley now faces a potential sentence of up to 25 years in prison, with her sentencing scheduled for Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at 9:30 a.m. She remains in custody without bail.
