(WNY News Now) – In the early hours of Sunday, September 24th, 2023, a 25-year-old man arrived at University Hospital – Downtown Campus with gunshot wounds to both legs, prompting an active investigation by the Syracuse Police Department.

Officers from the Syracuse Police Department responded to a call at University Hospital – Downtown Campus around 3:00 a.m. on Sunday after a shooting victim sought medical attention. The 25-year-old male victim reported being outside 127 West Fayette Street when he heard what he initially thought were fireworks. It became apparent that he had been shot in both legs.

The victim’s condition has been listed as stable, and fortunately, his injuries are not life-threatening.

The Syracuse Police Department has initiated an ongoing investigation into the incident and is urging anyone with information to come forward. To provide information, please contact the Syracuse Police Department Criminal Investigations Division at (315) 442-5222.
