
(WNY News Now) – A 24-year-old man has been sentenced for the crime of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, according to U.S. Attorney Trini E. Ross.
Buffalo – Michael Alan Jones, 24, previously convicted of two felony crimes in Alamance County, North Carolina, has been sentenced to time served (10 months) by U.S. District Judge David G. Larimer. Jones, legally barred from possessing firearms and ammunition due to his prior convictions, was found in possession of a semiautomatic rifle and ammunition in the Town of Leroy, Genesee County, on March 19, 2022, near Route 33 and Griswold Road and School Road.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Charles E. Moynihan, who managed the case, revealed that the conviction stemmed from Jones’s unlawful possession of the firearm and ammunition in violation of federal law.
