(WNY News Now) – A 23-year-old resident of Cattaraugus, NY, was apprehended by local deputies on Otto-East Otto Rd for driving while intoxicated (DWI), failure to stop at a stop sign, and aggravated unlicensed operation.

Otto – In the early hours of September 30, 2023, Derek Gerard, a 23-year-old resident of Cattaraugus, NY, was taken into custody by law enforcement following a traffic stop on Otto-East Otto Rd in the Town of Otto.

Deputies initiated the traffic stop after observing Gerard’s vehicle allegedly failing to halt at a stop sign. Subsequent investigation alleged indicators of intoxication. As a result, Gerard was charged with multiple offenses, including Driving While Intoxicated (DWI), Operating a Motor Vehicle Impaired by Drugs, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, and Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign.

Gerard’s legal proceedings are set to take place in the Town of Otto Court.
