
(WNY News Now) – Jamestown High School in Jamestown, N.Y., is abuzz with excitement as preparations for its annual Homecoming celebration are in full swing. A Homecoming Court has been chosen, and a series of events are scheduled for students and the community to enjoy, culminating in a Homecoming Parade and Varsity Football game on October 6 at Strider Field.
Jamestown – As anticipation builds, twelve JHS seniors have been selected by their peers to represent the Homecoming Court. The honored students include Carsen Bane, Aidan Devereaux, Cole Joly, Masiah Jones, Kaitlyn Kennedy, Keith Miller, Abby Monaghan, Jillian Overbeck-Thompson, Jonathan Overbeck, Ethan Pumford, Karlee Rock, and Mattea Spitzer.
The week leading up to Homecoming has been filled with spirited themes at JHS, including an anti-bullying Blue Shirt Day, Tropical Tuesday, Zoom Conference Day, “Soccer Moms vs. BBQ Dads” Day, and Color Wars Day, where students proudly sported their class colors. A bonfire and pep rally behind Jamestown High School on October 4 will celebrate the Fall Captains.
On October 5, Homecoming athletic contests will feature a JV and varsity girls volleyball matchup at 6 p.m. in the McElrath Gymnasium. The highlight of the week, the JHS Homecoming Parade, kicks off at 6 p.m. on October 6 at Allen Park, concluding at Strider Field, where the JHS Football team will face Lancaster at 7 p.m. Raider Royalty will be crowned at halftime.
Additionally, on October 7, varsity girls soccer will play Ft. LeBouf at 11 a.m. at Strider Field. The Homecoming dance will be held at the Jefferson Middle School Gymnasium that Saturday evening, with pre-sale tickets available for $5. Students are reminded to purchase tickets in advance, as no tickets will be sold at the door.
This year’s Homecoming promises a week of spirited fun and community celebration for all, with no cost to attend the parade or Homecoming game.
