(WNY News Now) – A 49-year-old defense attorney from Lackawanna County, has entered a guilty plea on four felony counts of promoting prostitution. The charges stem from his exploitation of vulnerable female clients, offering legal services in exchange for sexual acts and materials.

HARRISBURG – Attorney General Michelle Henry revealed that Corey Kolcharno, a defense attorney based in Lackawanna County, admitted guilt on Tuesday to charges of promoting prostitution. The 49-year-old lawyer faces four felony counts related to the exchange of his legal services for sexual favors and materials. A forthcoming presentence investigation will determine his sentencing.

As part of the plea agreement, Kolcharno is obligated to surrender his license to practice law.

Attorney General Henry expressed her concern, stating, “The defendant preyed upon the vulnerabilities of his clients for his own sexual gratification. Officers of the court are held to higher standards because their work is essential to our justice system, and this individual manipulated and abused those he had an obligation to defend.”

An investigation by the Office of Attorney General and the Pennsylvania State Police discovered that Kolcharno exploited his position as an attorney between 2018 and 2022, soliciting sexual acts and materials from clients who were grappling with addiction, had histories of sexual abuse, or faced other challenges.

The Lackawanna County District Attorney’s Office referred this case to the Office of Attorney General, and Senior Deputy Attorney General Anthony Forray is handling the prosecution.
