(WNY News Now) – Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announced that a 71-year-old resident of Clarence faced arraignment before Clarence Town Court Justice Michael B. Powers on serious charges, including failing to provide a photo as a Level 3 Sex Offender, failing to update his address, and endangering the welfare of a child.
Clarence – John E. Dziedzic, a 71-year-old resident of Clarence, was arraigned on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, on multiple charges that carry serious legal implications. The charges include failing to provide a photo as required by his status as a Level 3 Sex Offender, failing to update his address, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, all of which carry different degrees of penalties under New York Corrections Law.
The alleged incident leading to his arrest occurred on Monday, October 9, 2023, when New York State Police troopers responded to a complaint of a suspicious person at a motel on Main Street in the Town of Clarence. Dziedzic is accused of approaching two juveniles and reportedly offering them money, marijuana, and candy to accompany him to his motel room.
Due to prior felony convictions, Dziedzic was remanded following his arraignment. He appeared in Clarence Town Court for a felony hearing, which he waived. As of now, he remains in custody without bail, with no return court date scheduled.
Additionally, Dziedzic faces another charge for failing to register as a sex offender in Buffalo. He was arraigned before Buffalo City Court Judge Kevin J. Keane on one count of failing to update his address, a Class “E” felony. Bail for this charge was set at $1,000 cash, insurance bond, or partially secured surety bond. He is scheduled to return for a felony hearing on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at 9:30 a.m.
If convicted of the most severe charge, failing to provide a photo as a Level 3 Sex Offender, Dziedzic could face a maximum sentence of 4 years in prison.
