Bench Warrant Leads to Arrest in Narcotics Investigation

(WNY News Now) – A routine street check on October 13th at 8:27 AM led Jamestown City Police to apprehend a Jamestown man on Prendergast Ave and E 8th St, where they discovered a significant cache of narcotics.

Jamestown – Victor M. Melendez, a 45-year-old male, was taken into custody on the morning of October 13th after officers from the first platoon observed him in the vicinity of E 8th St and Prendergast Ave. Police were alerted to an active bench warrant against Melendez issued by Jamestown City Court.

When officers informed Melendez of the outstanding warrant, he allegedly attempted to evade arrest by fleeing on foot, leading officers on a brief pursuit. However, he was apprehended without further incident. During a search incident to arrest, officers discovered 17.2 grams of Fentanyl, divided into 79 individually bagged bundles.


Melendez is currently detained at the Jamestown City Jail, pending arraignment on charges of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree, Resisting Arrest, and the existing bench warrant.
