Man Sentenced to 2.5 Years for Second-Degree Assault Conviction

(WNY News Now) – An Olean man has been sentenced to a total of 2.5 years in prison, with 1.5 years to be served with the New York State Department of Corrections. This sentence is a result of his conviction on charges of Assault in the Second Degree, stemming from an incident that took place on or about November 29, 2022, in the City of Olean.

Olean –  John Filgrove was sentenced to prison for his actions in the late 2022 incident. According to the court, Filgrove had the intent to cause physical injury to another individual through the use of a deadly weapon or dangerous instrument.

The conviction and subsequent sentencing were handed down and the court determined that a 2.5-year sentence was appropriate for the severity of the crime, with 1.5 years to be served within the New York State Department of Corrections.
