Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Collision Kills Woman


(WNY News Now) – A hit-and-run incident in Syracuse on October 18th, 2023, resulted in a 56-year-old female pedestrian being critically injured. Tragically, the victim passed away on October 20th due to her injuries. The Syracuse Police Department is actively investigating and seeking information from the public.

Syracuse – On the evening of October 18th, 2023, at approximately 7:36 P.M., officers were dispatched to the 400 block of James Street in response to a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian. The victim, a 56-year-old woman, suffered head and leg injuries and was immediately transported to Upstate Hospital in critical condition.

Preliminary findings from the investigation indicated that the pedestrian was struck by a motor vehicle while crossing the street. The driver of the vehicle involved in the collision fled the scene. The hit-and-run incident prompted an ongoing and active investigation by the Syracuse Police Department’s Traffic Section.


Regrettably, the pedestrian’s condition worsened, leading to her passing on the evening of October 20th, 2023. The incident remains under investigation, and authorities are urging anyone with information related to the hit-and-run incident to come forward.
