JAMESTOWN, NEW YORK (WNY NEWS NOW) – The Northwest Arena and The Zone have recently announced that they have secured a grant from The John R. Oishei Foundation.
The $125,000 grant will go towards the creation of The Zone at the Northwest Arena.
WNY News Now spoke with The Zone’s program Director, John Kinder Jr. who told us that The Zone has also received recent funding from the city of Jamestown via the American rescue plan act.
Other out of town sources have also expressed interest in the project. With recent additional funding, some of the equipment that will be part of The Zone has started to be ordered.
No date for the start of construction has been announced, however when construction does begin, the completion will take about 9 months according to Kinder.
The Zone will be a 6,200 square foot, state-of-the-art indoor play space for toddlers through pre-teens that will connect sports with science, technology, engineering, arts, and math.
The Zone will be fully ADA-compliant and will include climbing structures, slides, hoops, people-powered arcade games, balls, targets, and other props meant to inspire imaginative play.
If any business or organization would like to support The Zone, they can reach out to John Kinder Jr. at john.kinder@northwestarena.com.
