(WNY News Now) – Pennsylvania Attorney General Michelle Henry and Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding caution businesses about a fraudulent scheme involving solicitation for booth reservations and payments for a non-existent “Winter Farm Expo” at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center.

HARRISBURG– Pennsylvania Attorney General Michelle Henry and Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding have issued a warning to businesses regarding a scam that involves deceptive solicitation for booth reservations and payments for an event that is not scheduled to take place at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center.

The misleading solicitations promote a fictitious “Winter Farm Expo” allegedly set to occur on January 6-7, 2024. Businesses are urged to be cautious as there is no such event scheduled at the Farm Show Complex on those dates. The scam targets vendors by requesting payments to reserve space at the non-existent event.

Attorney General Henry expressed frustration at the emergence of such scams, emphasizing the need for individuals and businesses to exercise caution. “Scammers are creative in their endeavors to prey on people to make a profit,” she stated. “It is frustrating to see a scam like this surface and potentially tarnish a longstanding attraction event like the Pennsylvania Farm Show. Do not allow yourselves to be fooled: do your research before signing paperwork or sending payment.”

To address concerns or report potential scams, consumers are encouraged to reach out to the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, Bureau of Consumer Protection. Complaints can be submitted through the official website at https://www.attorneygeneral.gov/submit-a-complaint/scams-complaint/ or by calling the office at 1-800-441-2555.

Businesses interested in reserving booth space for legitimate events, such as the 2024 Pennsylvania Farm Show Pennsylvania’s State Fair®, scheduled to take place from January 6-13, 2024, are advised to refer to the official website for accurate information. Details on becoming a commercial exhibitor can be found at www.farmshow.pa.gov.

The Pennsylvania Farm Show is a longstanding and reputable event, making it imperative for businesses to verify the legitimacy of any communication regarding booth reservations. Officials emphasize the importance of conducting thorough research before committing to any agreements or making payments.
