WNY NEW NOW – The Southwestern girls high school volleyball season came to a disappointing end on Saturday in the 2023 NYSPHSAA Girls Volleyball Class B semifinals. Meanwhile, Chautauqua Lake is advancing to the Class D Championship after a semifinals win on Saturday. 

In the state semifinals on Saturday, Lansing swept Southwestern 3-0 in all 3 sets as followed.

Set 1: 25-19, Set 2: 25-12, and Set 3: 31-29.

The loss ends the Trojan’s season. One in which a Southwestern Central School girls athletic team made it to a New York State championship tournament for the first time in school history.

In Class D semifinal volleyball action, Chautauqua Lake defeated Section IV’s Candor in 3/5 sets to advanced to the 2023 NYSPHSAA Girls Volleyball Championships Class D.

Set 1: Candor 25 Chautauqua Lake 23

Set 2: Candor 25 Chautauqua Lake 12

Set 3: Chautauqua Lake 25 Candor 17

Set 4: Chautauqua Lake 25 Candor 14

Set 5: Chautauqua Lake 15 Candor 12

Chautauqua Lake will face Lake George, Sunday at 2PM in the state Championship.
