(WNY News Now) – In a narcotics investigation conducted on December 1, 2023, at 7:54 pm, two Mayville residents were apprehended by Jamestown Police officers at the intersection of Fluvanna Ave. and N. Main St. The arrests stemmed from an outstanding felony warrant arrest issued by the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department.
Jamestown, N.Y. – Officers observed James D. Mawhir, 34 years old in the passenger seat of a vehicle entering Jamestown and promptly initiated a traffic stop. Subsequent to the arrest, a search revealed a quantity of methamphetamine on Mawhir’s person and within his belongings inside the vehicle. Further investigation uncovered a digital scale and packaging materials associated with controlled substances. Additionally, a container containing fentanyl and buprenorphine/naloxone was found.
Both Mawhir and Long were transported to the Jamestown City Jail. Mawhir faces charges of Three Counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree and two Counts of Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the 2nd Degree. Jenell L. Long, 47 years old is charged with two Counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree. Both individuals were subsequently released with appearance tickets. The case is set to be heard in Jamestown City Court.
