(WNY News Now) – LOCKPORT, NY: Niagara County District Attorney Brian D. Seaman announced that an indictment was unsealed in Niagara County Court charging a 25 year old Niagara Falls, woman with the crimes of Assault in the 2nd Degree, Vehicular Assault in the 2nd Degree, Driving While Ability Impaired by a Drug, Leandra’s Law DWI, Reckless Driving, and a series of vehicle and traffic infractions.
The charges are the result of an investigation by the Niagara Falls Police Department into an incident occurring on Ferry Avenue in Niagara Falls on July 19, 2023, where a juvenile riding her bicycle was seriously injured after being struck by the vehicle allegedly driven by Juajhane Y. Cox.
Juajhane Y. Cox appeared in County Court where she was arraigned by County Court Judge John J. Ottaviano. Ottaviano released the defendant with an ankle monitor and set a future court date of January 18th for further proceedings. The charges carry a maximum possible term of 7 years in prison.
A charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
