(WNY News Now) – PA – Interstate 86 in Pennsylvania will be fully operational, with all lanes open as of 10:00 AM on Tuesday, January 9. However, certain vehicle restrictions remain in effect to ensure safety on the road. 

Motorists on I-86, both directions west of the NY/PA state line,  may experience delays as a result of weather conditions. Pennsylvania Department of Transportation will have lanes open effective 10:00 AM on Tuesday, January 9, the following vehicles are not permitted on affected roadways: Tractors without trailers; Tractors towing unloaded or lightly loaded enclosed, trailers, open trailers or tank trailers; Tractors towing unloaded or lightly loaded tandem trailers; Tractors towing loaded tandem trailers without chains or Alternate Traction Devices (ATDs); Enclosed unloaded or lightly loaded cargo delivery trucks/box trucks that meet the definition of a CMV; Passenger vehicles (cars, SUV’s, pickup trucks, etc.) towing trailers; Recreational vehicles/motorhomes; School buses, commercial buses and motor coaches, regardless of the availability of trains or ATDs; and Motorcycles.
