(WNY News Now) – New York – New York State Senator George Borrello issued a statement recognizing the retirement of Assemblyman Andy Goodell, praising his 12-year tenure in the Assembly and highlighting their collaborative efforts on crucial regional issues.
“My friend and colleague Assemblyman Andy Goodell has been a tireless champion for our region throughout his public service career, including the last 12 years in the New York State Assembly. His constituents have benefitted greatly from his dedication, legislative expertise and advocacy just as I have, not only in my Senate role, but during my time in county government.
Working together, we have been united in our support for our region’s business community, particularly during the COVID lockdowns as we saw our local employers suffering from unfair mandates. We advanced a reopening plan that served as a model for the one eventually adopted by the state. We have worked side by side on critical issues involving our lakes and waterways, our local nonprofits and fought against big ‘green energy’ projects that residents don’t want and are harmful to our precious natural resources. We have also worked to underscore the harm done to our community and our state by the radical policies forced through Albany by the governor and Democratic majorities.
It is an understatement to say that Andy will be greatly missed by myself and all those who have relied on his partnership, advice and dedication over the years. I am grateful for his enormous contributions and longtime friendship and wish him and his family all the best in this new chapter.”
