(WNY News Now) – Jamestown NY – A 30-year-old Jamestown City resident faces multiple charges, including hate crimes, following a disturbing assault near the river bank on 9 N Main St.

On March 5, 2024, at 5:33 pm, Jamestown City officers responded to a call concerning the harassment of a juvenile victim fishing alone. The victim reported being targeted by Christopher C. Conklin, who allegedly approached him, labeling him an immigrant and falsely identifying himself as a police officer. The victim claimed Conklin ordered him to the ground, falsely asserting the existence of a warrant.

During the altercation, Conklin allegedly tackled the victim, threw his cell phone into the river, and continued to physically assault him. The victim, fearing for his safety, dialed 911, prompting Conklin to flee before police arrival.


A swift response by law enforcement led to Conklin’s apprehension on the north side of the city. A subsequent identification by the victim confirmed Conklin as the assailant. Charged with Robbery 3rd Degree, Assault 3rd Degree, Criminal Mischief, Criminal Impersonation, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Conklin is currently held pending arraignment at Jamestown City Court.
