(WNY News Now) – A 53-year-old Jamestown resident, has been charged with Menacing and Criminal Mischief in two separate incidents on March 8, 2024, involving brandishing a weapon and causing property damage.
On March 8, 2024, at approximately 10:06 AM, Jamestown Police Department’s First Platoon responded to a person-with-a-weapon complaint at a Northside Jamestown business. Ervin L. Mitchell was apprehended for allegedly menacingly brandishing a knife towards an employee. Subsequently, Mitchell was charged with Menacing in the 2nd degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd degree. Following arraignment at Jamestown City Court, Mitchell was released on his own recognizance in line with New York State Bail Reform.
Later that day, around 1:30 PM, officers responded to a Westside business for a report of a disorderly person, identifying Mitchell as the culprit. Investigation revealed Mitchell had broken a window at the establishment, leading to a Criminal Mischief in the 4th-degree charge. Once again, Mitchell was taken into custody and subsequently released on bail reform protocols following his arraignment on March 9, 2024.
