(WNY News Now) – Sherman, NY – A 43-year-old local woman was arrested for allegedly driving while intoxicated after a motor vehicle accident in the Town of Sherman.

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a vehicle submerged in a pond on Rt 76 in the Town of Sherman on March 15, 2024, at approximately 3:51 pm. The driver, identified as Heather L Ramsey, was transported to UPMC Chautauqua for evaluation following the accident. Subsequent investigation revealed Ramsey was driving under the influence. She was charged with DWI and moving from lane unsafely. Ramsey was released into medical care and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Sherman court at a later date. The authorities continue to investigate the incident.
