Matthew J. Weaver, a 50-year-old man from Dunkirk, NY, faces charges of Grand Larceny in the Second Degree after allegedly stealing and reselling over $90,000 worth of gasoline and diesel fuel.
Following an investigation initiated by the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division, Matthew J. Weaver was identified as the suspect in a grand larceny case involving stolen fuel. Weaver, who had been taking fuel from a business in the Town of Sheridan since October 2023, reportedly sold it at his own rate, keeping the proceeds for himself. On April 15, 2024, Weaver surrendered to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office for arraignment. The case will proceed in the Town of Sheridan Court.
