(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, NEW YORK – Cornell Cooperative Extension of Chautauqua County’s Master Garden Program is excited to announce the observance of National Gardening Month in April.

As spring weather warms the earth, gardeners are preparing to celebrate National Gardening Month throughout April! This observance offers a perfect opportunity to embrace the joy of gardening and reconnect with nature.

National Gardening Month, recognized every April, is an excellent time for individuals, families, and communities to delve into the art and science of gardening. Gardening is not just about beautifying our surroundings or growing food, it is also a way to heal the mind, body, and soul.  Health benefits include promoting physical well-being as well as reducing stress.

Gardens play a vital role in supporting biodiversity, providing habitats for pollinators, and contributing to the overall health and resilience of our ecosystems. Gardening not only enhances our own lives but also improves the community around us.

How will you celebrate National Gardening Month? Sow seeds, learn about native plants and how they support pollinators, or plant a container garden? Whether your garden is acres of land or a pot on a windowsill, you are celebrating and embracing National Gardening Month.

Join the growing movement of gardeners across the nation this April and let us make this National Gardening Month one to remember!
