In keeping with The Next Chapter Bookstore & Literacy Volunteers of Chautauqua County’s policy of “engaging with the community”, this month they are featuring Cross Stitch artwork by Mark Carlson.

Mark has been cross stitching for almost 50 years. At an early age he ordered a hook-and-latch rug kit to make for his mother. Not the challenge he anticipated, so he bought a cross stitch project and after completing that he knew he had found a fun and challenging hobby.

Mark prefers history and military subjects but by far his favorites are subjects like castles, dragons, mermaids, and fantasy samplers.  His work has won numerous awards at state and county fairs.

His work will be on display within The Next Chapter Bookstore (12 Park Place, Fredonia) until May 11.  Stop in and take a closer look at these intricate works of art.
