(WNY News Now) – Warren, Pa. – “May the 4th be with you!” is the theme for the Second Annual Children’s Interactive Festival in downtown Warren on Saturday, May 4, 11 a.m.–3 p.m. National Free Comic Book Day will be observed at the same time. 

The Festival is free and all ages are welcome. Come in costume for the parade and costume contest on Second Avenue between Liberty Street and the Fountain. 

Over 300 families and close to 1,000 folks enjoyed 2023’s inaugural Festival. This year will see hands-on science, environmental care, expanded physical challenges, a bigger art tent and continued focus on a zero landfill event.

More than 20 opportunities for hands-on activities and fun include:

  • Painting Star Wars Masks made by the Toy Shoppe volunteers
  • Trash Trivia Challenge
  • Science Experiment: Can you get a paperclip to float?
  • Therapy Dog Booth
  • New World War II Display
  • Repot the Marigold
  • Lego Building
  • Build With Tools
  • Human Body Learning Toys
  • Fairy tales books and challenge
  • Mother Goose Story and Painting Challenge
  • Phonics and Alphabet Fun
  • Free Booklets on Helping Kids Learn to Read
  • Select book sale
  • Lots of good food: Pizza, Walking Tacos, Cookies, Light Sabers, Oreo Space Dunk Cookies, Star War Fruit Gummies

In celebration of National Free Comic Book Day, Kids Town Books in Warren Antiques, 306 2nd Avenue, is giving out 1,000 free comic books from 11 a.m.–3 p.m., first come, first served. 

The event is presented by Free Books for Kids Town.
