On May 3, 2024, at 6:24 PM, Syracuse Police responded to a call at Upstate Hospital regarding a female victim, Kimberlin Gatewood, who had been dropped off with a gunshot wound. Despite medical efforts, Gatewood tragically succumbed to her injuries.

Since then, the Criminal Investigations Division (CID) Homicide Unit has been actively pursuing leads. Giles surrendered to detectives on May 5 and is currently held at the Onondaga County Justice Center, facing charges of Manslaughter 2nd and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd.

Both Giles and Gatewood are residents of Syracuse. The investigation remains ongoing, and anyone with relevant information is urged to contact CID.
