(WNY News Now) – PA – The Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission (PHRC) expands its statewide tour, “PHRC on the Road: Building a Beloved Community,” with two upcoming stops in Montgomery County.
The Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission (PHRC) is extending its outreach efforts with two new stops scheduled in Montgomery County as part of its ongoing statewide tour, “PHRC on the Road: Building a Beloved Community.”
The upcoming sessions are set for Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at Montgomery County Community College, and Wednesday, June 5, 2024, hosted by the Abington Township Human Relations Commission at the Crestmont Clubhouse. These events aim to provide platforms for community members to voice their concerns while fostering understanding and collaboration.
PHRC Executive Director Chad Dion Lassiter, MSW, emphasized the importance of these gatherings in facilitating dialogue and establishing partnerships with local leaders and organizations. The Beloved Community framework, developed by PHRC, seeks to promote peace, understanding, and tolerance amid societal diversity.
Since its launch in 2023, the statewide tour has covered various counties including Bucks, Centre, Chester, Cumberland, Dauphin, Delaware, Lancaster, and Philadelphia. Each session features an introduction to the Beloved Community framework, an overview of PHRC services, and an open forum for community questions.
The commission continues to seek additional venues for future sessions, encouraging interested parties to reach out to Stacy Waters at stwaters@pa.gov for partnership opportunities. Additionally, PHRC urges individuals who have encountered discrimination or hate incidents to report them by calling 717-787-4410 or visiting www.PHRC.pa.gov for information and resources.
For those interested in attending upcoming sessions or learning more about PHRC initiatives, registration and updates are available through the PHRC website and social media platforms including X, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube. Subscriptions to the commission’s monthly newsletter are also encouraged for regular updates.
