(WNY News Now) – Jamestown, NY – As The Reg Cinema prepares for a cinematic extravaganza, featuring the Monsterverse clash in “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” and award-winning dramas like “We Grown Now” and “The Long Game,” patrons brace for farewell to the theater’s current seating arrangement.

This latest entry in the Monsterverse, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (Sat., May 18 at 8 p.m.) pitsthe almighty Kong and the fearsome Godzilla against a colossal undiscovered threat hidden within our world, challenging their very existence – and our own. The epic new film delves further into the histories of these Titans, their origins, and the mysteries of Skull Island and beyond, while uncovering the mythic battle that helped forge these extraordinary beings and tied them to humankind forever. Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is rated PG-13 and is 115 minutes long.

We Grown Now (Wed., May 22 at 7 p.m.) is the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival winner of the Changemaker Award. In 1992 Chicago, as Michael Jordan solidifies himself as a champion, a story of two young legends in their own right begins. As wide-eyed and imaginative best friends Malik and Eric traverse the city, looking to escape the mundaneness of school and the hardships of growing up in public housing, their unbreakable bond is challenged when tragedy shakes their community just as they are learning to fly. We Grown Now is rated PG and is 93 minutes long.

The Long Game, (Wed., May 29 at 7 p.m.) is a beautiful, inspirational true story about five young Mexican-American caddies in 1957 who, disallowed from playing on the courses where they caddied, decided to build their own golf course in the South Texas desert and ultimately won the State Championship with the help of their superintendent-turned-coach. The Long Game is rated PG and is 112 minutes long.
These films will be the last to show at The Reg with its current seats. After the upcoming Jamestown Business College graduation ceremony in the theater, the seats will be removed to make way for brand new seats. A June 7 double feature of the summer camp comedies Meatballs and Wet Hot American Summer will be shown with patrons bringing their own camp chairs and blankets as alternative seating. The new seats will be installed this summer and be in place for the Lucille Ball Comedy Festival in August.
