Ellicottville, NY – May 10, 2024 – Early Friday morning, the Ellicottville Police Department responded to a medical alert alarm on Bryant Hill Road, which led to the discovery of a severe fire. Upon arrival at approximately 1:40 am, officers observed heavy fire conditions and called for additional support.

Fire companies from Ellicottville, Franklinville, Great Valley, Machias, and West Valley quickly arrived to combat the blaze. Despite their efforts, the fire caused catastrophic damage to the building, resulting in the tragic deaths of a 79-year-old man and his wife.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Cattaraugus County Fire Investigation Team and the Ellicottville Police Department. Support was also provided by the Ellicottville Great Valley Ambulance Company, the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office, and the Cattaraugus County Coroner.
