Join the 9th NY Cavalry reenactors for a living history weekend at Westfield’s Moore Park, June 7-9.
Immerse yourself in Civil War history as the 9th NY Cavalry reenactors bring the past to life in Moore Park, Westfield, from June 7-9. This long-standing event, free and open to the public, offers historical insights into the 9th NY Cavalry and Westfield during the Civil War.
The event kicks off Friday evening with the setup of authentic campsites. Saturday’s activities begin with a flag-raising ceremony at 9 a.m. at the soldiers’ monument, followed by a recruitment and mustering demonstration at 10 a.m. At 2 p.m., a sampling of Civil War letters will be read at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, located in the park, with camp and military life demonstrations starting at 3 p.m.
