Four individuals were charged with grand larceny on Thursday after allegedly stealing wire from railroad property.

At 10:00 AM on Thursday, Dunkirk Police responded to a larceny in progress near Lucas Ave. City Detectives observed Samantha Rushforth, 27, Aron Sikes, 30, Juan Ortiz, 40, and Dakota Murphy, 26, stealing a spool of wire worth over $1,000 from the Norfolk Southern tracks. The suspects were apprehended shortly after and their vehicle was towed. The stolen property was recovered, and all four individuals were charged with Grand Larceny in the 4th degree, a felony, and Criminal Trespass, a misdemeanor. They were issued appearance tickets and released.
