Healthcare professionals can earn continuing medical education credit

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The New York State Quitline (NY Quitline) is hosting a free webinar, “Normalizing Quit-Attempts and Reframing Relapse,” to help healthcare professionals support patients in their journey to quit smoking or vaping. The webinar will take place on Wednesday, May 29, from 12 to 1 p.m. via Microsoft Teams. Registration is available at the NY Quitline’s Online News Room.

Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, where the NY Quitline is based, will offer 1.0 continuing medical education credits for attending the live webinar.

Three experts will present during the webinar:

  • Dr. Susan Y. Urban, MD, FACP – Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at NYU School of Medicine
  • Dr. Sara Siddiqui, MD, FAAP, DipABOM, IBCLC – Pediatrician at Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital, NYU Langone Health
  • Rosanne Aulino, RN, CHMN, TTS – Psychiatric Nurse and Tobacco Treatment Counselor at Columbia County Mental Health Center

The NY Quitline provides resources and support for those looking to quit smoking or vaping, available through 1-866-NY-QUITS (1-866-697-8487) and at nysmokefree.com. They offer free nicotine replacement therapy, online chat support, and a texting program, Learn2QuitNY, by texting QUITNOW to 333888.

Note: “Tobacco” in this context refers to manufactured combustible products and vapes, excluding traditional and sacred use by Native American nations.
