On Tuesday, May 28th, at 1:14 PM, the City of Olean Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire at 586 Fountain St. Fire crews arrived promptly at 1:19 PM, discovering smoke emanating from a detached two-car garage.
Upon arrival, firefighters quickly stretched a hose line and made entry into the garage. By 1:21 PM, water was on the fire, effectively controlling the situation. One individual was evaluated on-site for smoke inhalation by Trans Am Ambulance Service, with no other injuries reported.
The cause of the fire was determined to be unintentional, resulting from improperly discarded smoking material.
The Olean Police Department, Trans Am Ambulance, and Deputy 4 Coordinator provided crucial assistance at the scene. Additionally, Weston Mills Fire Department was on standby to cover the city during the incident.
