Jason S. Smith, 54, faces criminal contempt charges after breaching a stay-away order in Celoron.

Jason S. Smith, a 54-year-old resident of Jamestown, has been charged with criminal contempt in the first degree. The arrest took place on the morning of May 30, 2024, following an incident in the Village of Celoron.

At approximately 8:30 AM, officers from the Ellicott Police Department responded to reports of an altercation. Upon arrival, they discovered Smith at the residence of a person protected by an active stay-away order. This order specifically mandates Smith to maintain a distance from the victim.

Smith’s presence at the location constituted a direct violation of the court-issued protection order. As a result, he was immediately taken into custody by the responding officers.

Following his arrest, Smith was transported to the Chautauqua County Jail, where he is scheduled for centralized arraignment.
