72-year-old John E. Dziedzic was sentenced to 364 days in jail by Erie County Court Judge Kenneth Case for failing to register as a sex offender and for approaching juveniles. Acting Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane announced the sentencing earlier today.

On October 9, 2023, New York State Police troopers responded to a complaint about a suspicious individual at a motel on Main Street in Clarence. The day after the incident, Dziedzic was arraigned in Clarence Town Court and remanded due to his prior felony convictions. He later pleaded guilty to one count of Failure to Register and/or Verify as a Sex Offender, a Class E felony, and two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Class A misdemeanors. Dziedzic’s guilty plea to the highest count in the indictment came on April 23, 2024.
Final orders of protection were issued today for the two juvenile victims, effective for the next five years, aiming to safeguard them from future harm. Acting DA Keane praised the collaborative efforts of the New York State Police Criminal Investigation Bureau, Department of Corrections and Community Supervision parole officers, and the Buffalo Police Department for their thorough investigation.
