Following a traffic stop on June 15th, Jamestown Police apprehended Anthony Ortiz Morales for multiple charges, including drug and weapon possession.
On the evening of June 15th, at approximately 8:31 PM, officers from the Jamestown Police Department conducted a traffic stop on Park St. near Newland Ave. The subject, Anthony Ortiz Morales, a 24-year-old resident of Jamestown, was riding a motorcycle without proper safety equipment. Officers quickly discovered that Ortiz Morales was driving with a suspended license and the motorcycle’s registration was both suspended and expired. Additionally, the vehicle lacked insurance.
Officers were aware of an outstanding warrant for Ortiz Morales, prompting them to take action. As they attempted to arrest him, Ortiz Morales resisted by pulling away and trying to flee the scene. During the struggle, officers found a pocket knife on his person. Despite his resistance, officers managed to subdue and detain him.
A subsequent search revealed a quantity of fentanyl concealed on Ortiz Morales. Furthermore, in the course of resisting arrest, he caused damage to another person’s property. As a result, Ortiz Morales faces multiple charges: Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree, Criminal Mischief in the 4th Degree, Resisting Arrest, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th Degree.
Following his arrest, Ortiz Morales was transported to the Jamestown City Jail, where he is currently held pending arraignment. He also received several traffic citations for his various violations.
