(WNY News Now) – Jamestown, NY – After evading authorities for months, a 37-year-old resident of Amherst, NY, was apprehended in Wooster, OH by a joint effort of the U.S. Marshals Service and local police, facing charges of criminal possession of a weapon.

Evan Nix, a fugitive wanted by Jamestown City Court for criminal possession of a weapon, was finally apprehended on June 14, 2024, in Wooster, OH. Nix, who had been on the run since late 2023 following an incident where he was allegedly found in possession of a loaded firearm, was listed among the top 10 most wanted individuals by the Jamestown Police Department.

The arrest came after an extensive search conducted by the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force in collaboration with the Wooster Police Department. Authorities acted swiftly upon locating Nix, swiftly transporting him back to Jamestown, NY for arraignment.

On June 15, 2024, Nix faced Jamestown City Court, where he was formally arraigned and subsequently remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail without bail. A felony hearing has been scheduled later this week to address the charges of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree.
