(WNY News Now) – Stockton – A 45-year-old Bemus Point man was discovered lying in the roadway on Rt 380 in the Town of Stockton early Wednesday morning, leading to his arrest for DWI.

On July 10, 2024, at approximately 8:07 a.m., deputies responded to an unusual incident on Rt 380 in the Town of Stockton. They found a man, later identified as Eric J. Johnson, 45, of Driftwood Road, Bemus Point, lying in the middle of the roadway.

After conducting an investigation, deputies determined that Johnson had been traveling in a vehicle before exiting and lying down on the road. Further assessment revealed that Johnson was intoxicated by drugs.

Johnson was promptly arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated (DWI). He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Stockton Court at a later date to answer to the charge. As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
