(WNY New Now) – Washington, DC – In a bid to reinforce the integrity of federal elections, Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY-24), co-chair of the Election Integrity Caucus, has cast a decisive vote in favor of the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act (SAVE Act). The legislation, which Tenney cosponsored, successfully passed the House with a vote of 221-198.
“Since President Biden took office, there have been over 9.7 million illegal immigrant encounters nationwide, threatening our communities, our national security, and now our elections,” said Congresswoman Tenney. “The SAVE Act is commonsense legislation that ensures only American citizens vote in American elections. Nearly 80% of voters oppose illegal migrants voting in any U.S. election. Yet, Democrats oppose the SAVE Act because they want the millions of illegal immigrants they have allowed into our country to be able to vote and sway our elections. This is an insult to every single American and highlights the urgent need to have the SAVE Act signed into law. We must defend this most sacred right and ensure only American citizens have a say at the ballot box.”
The legislation’s passage has ignited a heated debate. Supporters argue it is crucial for maintaining the sanctity of U.S. elections, while critics claim it reflects underlying partisan motivations and risks disenfranchising eligible voters. As the SAVE Act heads to the Senate, its fate remains uncertain, and its implications for future elections are a subject of intense scrutiny.
