(WNY News Now) – Bemus Point, NY – The Bemus Point School District has been awarded a $400,000 rebate from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to purchase two electric school buses. This funding has unlocked additional rebates and incentives, ensuring the project incurs no extra taxes for the community.

Bemus Point Superintendent Joseph Reyda issued the following statement: To the Bemus Point Community,

“The district was recently notified that it was the recipient of a 2023 EPA Rebate award of $400,000 to go towards the purchasing of two electric school buses. This rebate then allowed the district to be eligible for several other rebates and incentives that will make this project one with no additional tax increase. To allow the community to get a better understanding of electric school buses and how they operate, we have arranged for an electric bus visitation event on Wednesday, July 24th, from 2:00 to 3:00 pm at the Bemus Point Bus Garage. District officials and representatives from Leonard Bus Company will be available to provide tours of the bus and to answer any questions you may have to ask. We encourage everyone to come to the Bus Garage tomorrow and see an electric bus up close and to ask questions.”

With Respect,

Joseph Reyda, Superintendent of Schools
