(WNY News Now) – DUNKIRK – Tonight, Wednesday, July 24, from 6 to 8 p.m., The Trend will perform at Point Gratiot Park as part of Dunkirk’s Music at the Point Sunset Concert Series. Sponsored by STEL, Lawley Insurance, and DFT Communications, the event promises an evening of classic 60s rock ‘n roll and R&B.
The Trend, covering 60’s rock ‘n roll and R&B, was formed in Buffalo in 1966 and became a popular band at high school dances. Of the original four members, two remain in the band including Dave Chiarmonte (lead singer and bass) and Dave Roach (guitar and vocals). Joe Saeli (guitar and harmonica) joined the band in 1970. College, careers, etc., brought about a hiatus, but the band started again in earnest in the mid-80’s. Recent additions include Bill Basil (drummer) and Therese Vita (vocals).
Upcoming performances include the following dates/bands: July 31 – Classic Rock Allstars, August 7 – Ion Sky (STEL V.I.P. Night), August 14 (Lawley V.I.P. Night) – The Living Room Jam Band, August 21 – DTO, August 28 – Furious George and September 4 – Bill Ward (make up day).
Visitors are reminded to bring a chair, snacks and refreshments and enjoy the sunsets and music at Point Gratiot.
