(WNY News Now) – LAKEWOOD, NY — On July 19, 2024, the Chautauqua Lake Association (CLA) welcomed a significant addition to their equipment lineup: a 2024 JCB-930 four-wheel-drive all-weather forklift. Supplied by Jamestown Industrial Trucks of Frewsburg, NY, this new forklift replaces the CLA’s 1958 Pettibone forklift, which has been in service since the 1970s.

CLA Executive Director Douglas Conroe commented, “Although the 1958 forklift has served us well, the time has come to replace it due to ongoing maintenance needs and the fact that replacement parts for it are not readily available. This new machine is an important part of our inventory and should serve us well into the future.”

The CLA relies on forklifts year-round to move lake maintenance vessels within their work yard and maintenance shop. Additionally, the forklift is crucial for launching and retrieving equipment from the lake, ensuring efficient lake management services.

The purchase was funded by the CLA’s endowment, supplemented by a grant from the Chautauqua County Occupancy Tax Program via the Chautauqua Lake and Watershed Management Alliance.
