(WNY News Now) – Jamestown, NY (August 1, 2024) — As the Chautauqua County Fair draws to a close, the 4-H Program unites at the Warren K. Brown Show Arena to honor the youth who have demonstrated exceptional skills and dedication. Special scholarships and animal project awards highlight the evening, with barn superintendents nominating outstanding participants for the prestigious Herdsman Awards.
The awards are based on criteria such as sportsmanship, kindness, communication skills, trustworthiness, responsibility, ethics, initiative, and being a positive role model. Nominees should exemplify the four-fold development of 4-H: head, heart, hands, and health.
Award Winners
- Most Improved 4-Hr Award (Robert Spinler Memorial): Addison Damcott, Sherman Kountry Kids 4-H Club.
- Kris TeWinkle Memorial Spirit of 4-H Award: Abigail Carlberg.
- Most Outstanding 4-H Junior Superintendent Award: Denza Fanara, Horse Project.
- Best All-Around 4-H Member Award (Kazan Mosher Memorial): Madalyn Reading.

The following members, now aging out of 4-H, were also recognized: Morgan Becker, Hallie Boardman, Lydia Covert, Lexus Eschenbach, Mackenzy Graziano, Tegenya Graziano, Kamryn Harper, Breanna Keefe, Adam Lesch, Cole Nickerson, Hannah Schauman, Luisa Smith, Leighanne Swan, and Erma Jean Wolcott.
