(WNY News Now) – Sheridan – A late-night prowler in the Town of Sheridan led to the arrest of a Dunkirk man for multiple charges including petit larceny and criminal mischief.
On July 30, 2024, at approximately 1:36 AM, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office responded to a complaint about a prowler at a residence on Route 20 in the Town of Sheridan. The Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Division reviewed security footage from the residence and identified the suspect as 56-year-old Gary A. Lang of Dunkirk, NY.
Further investigation linked Lang to another incident on the same day involving the attempted entry into vehicles at a residence on West Sheridan Road. Additional video footage confirmed his identity.
Lang was located at a residence on Deer Street in Dunkirk, where he was apprehended by Chautauqua County Sheriff Investigators and Dunkirk Police Officers. He faces multiple charges, including petit larceny, trespass, attempted petit larceny, and fourth-degree criminal mischief.
Following his arraignment in centralized court, Lang was held without bail at the County Jail. As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
