(WNY News Now) – Lockport – In a significant legal development, Dominique L. Castile of Niagara Falls has pleaded guilty to manslaughter and assault charges, bringing closure to two violent incidents from late 2022.

Niagara County District Attorney Brian D. Seaman announced that Dominique L. Castile, 36, of Niagara Falls, pleaded guilty to charges of Manslaughter in the First Degree and Assault in the Second Degree. These charges stem from two separate stabbing incidents that occurred late last year.

Castile admitted to fatally stabbing 33-year-old Stefhon Hilson on January 1, 2023. Additionally, he confessed to stabbing another individual just days earlier on December 27, 2022. The plea deal brings an end to a case that has weighed heavily on the community and the victims’ families.

District Attorney Seaman emphasized the significance of the guilty plea, stating, “This afternoon’s proceedings bring closure to Mr. Hilson’s family and remove a menace from the community.”

The Niagara Falls Police Department conducted a thorough investigation, leading to Castile’s arrest and subsequent prosecution. The case was prosecuted by First Assistant District Attorney Doreen Hoffmann and Assistant District Attorney David DeChellis, who worked diligently to secure justice for the victims.

Castile now faces up to 25 years in prison. His sentencing is scheduled for October 18th.
