(WNY News Now) – Jamestown, NY – A 20-year-old Jamestown resident is facing a slew of serious charges following an chaotic series of events on August 8, 2024, that included an alleged high-speed crash, assaults, and attempted vehicle hijacking.
On August 8, 2024, at approximately 8:52 AM, Jamestown City officers responded to a motor vehicle accident with injuries near W. 3rd Street and W. 4th Street. Upon arrival, officers found a chaotic scene involving Blake A. Perry, 20, who had allegedly been driving at high speeds. Perry’s reckless driving resulted in a collision with another vehicle, injuring the other driver.
Following the crash, Perry exited his car, assaulted an uninvolved bystander, and made an unsuccessful attempt to hijack a vehicle operated by a female driver. The situation escalated when Perry forcibly entered a van, engaging in a physical altercation with the van’s operator, which included striking the operator in the face.
During the confrontation, Perry attempted to flee but was subdued by police using a Taser. He was subsequently apprehended without further incident. Perry was charged with attempted robbery in the 2nd degree, attempted grand larceny in the 3rd degree, two counts of assault in the 3rd degree, resisting arrest, failure to keep right, speed not reasonable or prudent, reckless driving, and leaving the scene of a personal injury accident.
Perry was transported to Jamestown City Jail and was held pending arraignment. After his court appearance, he was released. The incident remains under investigation.
As with all persons Perry is presumed innocent of these allegations until proven guilty in a court of law.
