(WNY News Now) – Jamestown – Join the original members of 10,000 Maniacs for an insightful evening of conversation and reflection on the band’s early days at the Reg Lenna Center for The Arts tonight at 7 p.m.
On August 16, the Reg Lenna Center for The Arts will host a unique panel discussion featuring the founding members of the iconic band 10,000 Maniacs. The event, titled “10,000 Maniacs Can’t Ignore the Train: Conversation and Reflections with the Founding Members,” will start at 7 p.m. and is presented by WRFA and Crying Out Loud Productions.
The panel will include Jerome Augystinyak, Dennis Drew, Steven Gustafson, and John Lombardo, who will explore the band’s formation and early evolution. The discussion promises an in-depth look at the band’s origins and their journey from Jamestown’s music scene in 1978 to their first major label release with The Wishing Chair. Attendees can enjoy a pre-panel reception featuring beer, wine, and archival content viewing.
This event marks the culmination of the four-part audio documentary “10,000 Maniacs: Can’t Ignore the Train,” which has been airing on WRFA-LP 107.9 F.M. since July 26. The documentary offers a detailed account of the band’s development, including insights from their peers and early collaborators. The final episode of the series will air on August 16, coinciding with the live event.
