(WNY News Now) – Ashville – A young Ashville resident is facing multiple charges after violating an Order of Protection during a domestic dispute, leading to his arrest and arraignment.
On the evening of August 14, 2024, at 7:15 PM, Lakewood Busti Police responded to a domestic incident at 2477 Lakeside Drive in Ashville, New York, involving 18-year-old Andre M. Guzda. According to police reports, Guzda became upset with a female family member, striking her on the back of the head with a marshmallow poker. When the victim attempted to call 911, Guzda allegedly knocked the phone out of her hand, preventing her from seeking help, and threw another object at her before fleeing the scene.
Further investigation revealed that Guzda had previously been issued an Order of Protection by the Town of Busti Court on July 17, 2024, following a similar incident involving the same family member. Despite this, Guzda returned to the residence, violating the court order.
Police were able to locate and apprehend Guzda a short time later. He was arrested and transported to the county jail for Centralized Arraignment Processing. Guzda now faces charges of Harassment in the 2nd Degree, Criminal Mischief in the 4th Degree, and Criminal Contempt in the 2nd Degree. As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
