(WNY News Now) – Jamestown – A Jamestown resident is facing serious federal charges after an investigation uncovered his alleged involvement in fentanyl distribution.

A 29-year-old Jamestown man, Duane Lowery, has been arrested on multiple fentanyl-related charges following a federal investigation. U.S. Attorney Trini E. Ross announced that Lowery was charged with possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and distribution of fentanyl. If convicted, he could face up to 20 years in prison and a $1,000,000 fine.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Donna M. Duncan and Joshua A. Violanti. According to the criminal complaint, Lowery was identified by investigators as a significant trafficker of fentanyl and cocaine in the Jamestown area. Law enforcement conducted controlled purchases of fentanyl from Lowery in November and December 2022, leading to further action.

On December 7, 2022, authorities executed a search warrant at Lowery’s residence in Jamestown. The search resulted in the discovery of suspected fentanyl, methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and $1,140 in cash, further implicating Lowery in the alleged drug trafficking operation.

Lowery appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Jeremiah J. McCarthy and is currently being held pending a detention hearing scheduled for August 19, 2024.

This investigation was a collaborative effort by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), the Jamestown Police Department, and the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office.

As are all persons accused of a crime, Lowery is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
