(WNY News Now) – West Seneca, N.Y. – A new federal grant is set to enhance the safety and readiness of West Seneca firefighters, thanks to crucial funding by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in the amount of $108,220.95.
The West Seneca Fire District #3 has been awarded a $108,220.95 Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), as announced by Congressman Nick Langworthy. This funding is earmarked for essential equipment, protective gear, and training, all aimed at bolstering the department’s ability to serve the community.
“This significant investment in West Seneca’s firefighters will enable them to better serve the community by ensuring they have the tools they need to do their jobs safely and effectively,” said Congressman Langworthy. “Our firefighters put their lives on the line every day, and I’m proud to work with them to bring home federal resources so they have the best possible equipment.”
Earlier this year, Congressman Langworthy hosted a virtual seminar with FEMA officials to help local fire departments understand and prepare for the application process for these grants. The AFG program aims to enhance the safety and readiness of fire departments nationwide by providing funding for essential equipment, protective gear, and training.
