(WNY News Now) – Ellicott – On August 20, 2024, at approximately 12:18 PM, the Town of Ellicott police responded to a shoplifting complaint at the Target located at 975 Fairmount Avenue. Jose Hernandez, 39, of Dunkirk, was charged with petit larceny following the incident.

According to authorities, Hernandez allegedly entered the store, selected various items of merchandise, and exited the premises without making any attempt to pay. Store employees reported the theft, prompting a swift response from local law enforcement.

Hernandez was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Ellicott court at a later date to address the charge. As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
